About Us
Being a member of a social Greek-lettered organization is a choice. Students have been making the choice to be Greek at Boise State University since 1968, the year before the school went from Boise College to Boise State College. Historically Greek students at Boise State University have held leadership positions. These positions include but are not limited to:
- Student body presidents, vice presidents, chief justices and senators
- Members of division 4 athletic teams
- Positions on Student Programs Board
- Positions on Volunteer Service Board
- Resident Advisors
- Orientation Assistants
- Student Ambassadors
Greek Organizations promote scholarship. Annually the all Greek grade point average has been equal to or higher than the all Boise State average. Frequently you can find Greek students in study hours or serving as tutors to fellow students.
Being affiliated with a Greek organization allows you the opportunity to give back to the community. Greeks at Boise State University give back by doing fundraisers for the Children's Miracle Network and survivors of domestic violence, they work with organizations such as Choose Children, they are found participating in campus and community activities such as Take Back the Night or the Race for the Cure, the also work with TRIO pre-college programs.
Where is Greek life heading at Boise State University? It is an exciting time to be Greek at Boise State, expansion has started with the addition of two traditionally Latino/Latina based Greek organizations. A Greek Life Taskforce is being created to aid in the development of a strong Greek community. In addition a student-led Greek marketing committee has been formed and is working to market the entire Greek community.
An outstanding Greek community is a necessary to help Boise State University "Chart the Course" towards becoming the leading metropolitan research university of distinction. Greeks help to develop the student as a scholarly leader which in turn helps to develop the campus community. It is imperative that the student life options offered to students help to grow the ideals of the University.
